The spread ballooned to 9 points early in the week before Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo was declared ready to play and then fell back to Detroit -7.5 in the Week 8 Monday Nighter.

We would be comfortable with just about any point spread here, as the Lions rebound from a humiliation against the Ravens. Meanwhile the Raiders are not a very good defensive team at short-yardage stops which is exactly what the Lions love to do.

The Lions have been cover machines the past season, riding a 14-3 ATS streak over 17 games. At home, the run is 7-1 ATS. This could be a 31-10 type of affair.

Why the Raiders can cover the spread

If they can hold off the first-quarter rage the Lions offense is likely to spew, they might be able to keep this thing with point-spread striking range. Jimmy G is back and has been clicking with Jacobi Meyers (who we like as one of our Monday Night prop specials below).

The offensive line has been effective keeping Jimmy safe and that gives him time to display his much-hyped passing accuracy. And any team with Davante Adams has a chance to keep it close.

If you believe in Week trends (we don’t), the Lions have been a disaster the past 11 seasons at 1-10 ATS.

Why the Lions can cover the spread

If you believe the Lions hype, then you should also believe last week was an aberration and they are primed for a big bounce here. The Raiders pass rush is mostly non-existent giving Jared Goff everything he needs to dice up the Vegas defense.

Las Vegas usually loses on the road and seldom cover (3-11 SU, 4-10 ATS) while Detroit has covered seven of eight recent home games.

We were bettors at -9, so you can bet we are loading up at -7.5. We see this game getting out hand and not even garbage time can ruin the cover here for the Lions.

Jakobi Meyers OVER 61.5 receiving yards at Draft Kings – Meyers and Jimmy G have been an item with tons of targets. After this game gets out of hand, soft Detroit secondary play will provide lots of chances for Meyers to soar OVER this number.

Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime TD -135 at Draft Kings – the Lions RB scored a week ago while averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Vegas will give up more than that.
