Bet the orange jerseys?
The ACC begins their football schedule this weekend, which includes the season debut for the No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers. And we seem to like orange this week, picking three NCAA best bets where jerseys are mainly orange.
Clemson Tigers at Wake Forest Demon Deacons (+33.5)
The Tigers head into the season opener 29-1 SU and 20-10 against the spread in their last 30 games. Clemson has dominated Wake Forest with 11 straight wins against them, however they haven’t always been kind to bettors at 6-5 ATS.
Last season the Tigers totally destroyed the Demon Deacons 52-3 as a 34.5-point favorite. We expect much of the same this weekend against a similar spread. This is a Tigers squad that averaged nearly 44 PPG last season against a Wake Forest defense that was ranked middle of the pack in the ACC.
Lay the wood, give the points – Clemson covers with ease.
Syracuse Orange at North Carolina Tar Heels (-23.5)
The Tar Heels are considered by most experts to be the third best team in the ACC this season. The Orange are cellar dwellers and will battle Georgia Tech for the conference basement. That being said we’ll take Syracuse ATS this weekend.
Somehow the Orange have delivered in their season opener recently, to the tune of a 6-0 SU record. We don’t expect a SU win, but they are also 5-1 ATS in their last six road games in September. North Carolina has had trouble getting started lately with a 1-5-1 ATS mark in their last seen season openers.
Take the points and run here, Syracuse +23.5
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Florida State Seminoles (-12.5)
If you’re thinking this looks like an easy bet on Florida State, the trends say otherwise. The Yellow Jackets have seven straight ATS wins versus the Seminoles and they’ve won nine of their last 10 ATS. Florida State hasn’t posted an ATS win against Georgia Tech since 2001.
As a 12-point underdog, the Yellow Jackets are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four games. Look for Georgia Tech to post another ATS upset in a game that will be much closer than expected.
Take another orange underdog – Georgia Tech +12.5
