Eagles QB Wentz won't practice Wednesday, could miss Rams matchup

Philadelphia Eagles Betting Specials

First off, full disclosure – I have a man crush on the Philadelphia Eagles. Second off, my unbiased handicapping leads me to three conclusions on the Eagles preseason props list, including an OVER pick on their season win total and a wager on whether they make the NFC playoffs.

(All odds according to SugarHouse NJ):

OVER-UNDER season win totals (regular season)

Over 9: -134

Under 9: +110

Over 10.5: +220

Under 10.5: -278

I think over 10.5 at +220 is your best bang for your buck here, as we have identified 11 wins for the Eagles. If they can stay healthy, those 11 wins are possible. Last season, Carson Wentz had to carry this team to the playoffs after his entire receiver core ended up on IR. I don’t expect that to happen again. If DeSean Jackson can stay healthy and Jalen Reagor is the prospect the Eagles think he is, this offense could pop.

SugarHouse is rewarding us with a tasty +220 payout on the Over 10.5. We are taking the bait. You can also check out our betting analysis on odds to win the NFC East here.

Where will the Eagles finish in the NFC East?

1st Place: +150

2nd Place: +105

3rd Place: +600

4th Place: +1200

Second place at +105 is your best bet in a two-team in a division where no team ever repeats as division champs. The Eagles won in 2019, Washington and New York will be lucky to get more than six wins, so it has to be Dallas right? The Cowboys are currently the favorites at -121 and rightfully so as Dallas has the best roster on paper. If new HC Mike McCarthy is just a little less incompetent than Jason Garrett, then Dallas should finish first.

I do think it will be close and will come down to the Week 16 matchup Eagles vs.the Cowboys. I just don’t see this Cowboy’s roster underachieving two years in a row. Second is an easy bet here.

Odds to make the 2020 playoffs

Yes: -177

No: +144

Going with Yes at -177 is the play here. Unless Carson suffers a season-ending injury, the Eagles should be a playoff team. With the NFL adding an extra wild card team, 44% of the league will make the playoffs. Many experts believe the Eagles will finish 9-7, which should get them into that 44%.

True, the -177 is a lot to risk and not very appealing, but it is definitely the smart play if you want to bet on the Eagles to make  the playoffs in 2020.
