San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Braylon Edwards will not be suspended as a result of a DUI arrest he had last season when he was a member of the New York Jets.
Edwards will be fined instead, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
The 49ers got the good news today. Edwards was not a starter during preseason but the expectation is he will be a primary target for quarterback Alex Smith.
Edwards was spared jail time in the case in July. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DWI and received probation. He was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service. One would think a suspension for a DWI conviction would make sense but apparently not in this instance.
