The Kansas City Chiefs have hammered out a two-year contract extension with star running back Jamaal Charles.

Charles was due $3.9 million this year.

He's now due to make $18 million in new money over the next two years.

Charles led the NFL with 19 touchdowns last season.

The new deal avoids a potential holdout situation for Charles, who was underpaid for his production.
