The Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran offensive guard Rokevious Watkins.
Watkins was cut by the St. Louis Rams after reporting overweight.
Watkins, a 6-foot-3, 338-pounder from South Carolina, Watkins is suspended for the first game for a violation of the NFL substance-abuse policy.
Watkins is a former Rams fifth-round draft pick and All-Southeastern Conference selection at South Carolina.
To create a roster spot, the Chiefs cut 6-6, 354-pound offensive tackle Mike Tepper. Tepper has played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys.
