South Carolina defensive end Jadaveon Clowney has set his sights on becoming the top overall pick of the draft, a selection currently held by the Houston Texans.
Clowney also wants to dazzle NFL scouts at the scouting combine next week.
The 6-foot-5, 274-pounder said he plans to run the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds.
That's a time normally run by wide receivers and cornerbacks, not a defensive lineman.
“I hope to run a 4.4 right now,” Clowney told Yahoo! Sports. “That’s my goal. On hand times, I’ve been running 4.4s. I hope I can get a 4.4 at the combine. A 4.5, I’m not too worried about.”
Clowney doesn't expect to run a 4.6.
“I ain’t going to run a 4.6,” Clowney said. “I’m probably going to run low 4.5, 4.4.”
