San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick ditched his curt style with the media last week and exchanged it for a more expansive, cooperative, smiling approach this week.
On his argument with Raiders linebacker Sio Moore: "I'm not one to back down from the challenge, so we exchanged a few words."
On Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman: "He's fast, he's long. He does a great job covering guys. He makes windows very small for being able to get the ball into receivers."
Kaepernick has been struggling on the field and the 49ers are 7-6 and may miss the playoffs.
Why did he change his style with reporters?
"There's a different way to go about things," Kaepernick said. "Obviously, it's something that I take my job very seriously. When I go out there and compete and don't do well at something, I'm very hard on myself. It's something I have to approach others differently ... when I'm in those situations.
"Yeah, I think there is a happy medium here," he said. "It's something that, obviously, I'm working on. Try to help you guys do your jobs as well."
