Baylor QB Brewer to enter transfer portal
Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer announced Sunday that he will enter the transfer portal and use his final year of eligibility at a new school.
“It is with much thought and prayer that I am announcing I will be entering the transfer portal and moving on as a graduate transfer,” Brewer wrote on Twitter. “A heartfelt thank you to my teammates, Coach (Matt) Rhule and Coach (Dave) Aranda for an amazing ride the past four years here at Baylor. I will take with me a lifetime of great memories and a degree from Baylor University.”
Brewer departs after serving as the school’s all-time leader in completions (828), passing attempts (1,304) and total plays (1,756). His 87 total touchdowns (65 passing, 22 rushing) are second only to Robert Griffin III.
Brewer began his collegiate career under Rhule, throwing for 1,562 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions in eight games (four starts).
He then guided the Bears to a Texas Bowl win in 2018 and an appearance in the Big 12 championship game and Sugar Bowl in 2019.
Brewer completed 198 of 321 passes for 1,958 yards with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions in nine games this season.
“I am very thankful for Charlie and all that he has given Baylor football and Baylor University over the last four years,” Aranda said. “I have so much respect for him and the way he has led our team. There is no doubt in my time here that Charlie has been tough, hard-working and competitive. We wish him nothing but the best in his next step.”
