FAU-Southern Miss postponed over COVID-19 issues

Florida Atlantic and Southern Miss won’t play Saturday in Hattiesburg, Miss., due to COVID-19 concerns at FAU.

“The health and safety of our student-athletes will always be our highest priority as we deal with this pandemic,” FAU athletic director Brian White said. “We’ll continue to work diligently with Conference USA and Southern Miss to reschedule this game.”

This is the third postponement on the season for FAU in connection with the coronavirus. Games against Georgia Southern and South Florida also were postponed, and contests against Minnesota and Stony Brook were canceled.

FAU has played just one game — a 21-17 victory over Charlotte last Saturday. Southern Miss is 1-3 (1-1 Conference USA).
