Florida CB Jaydon Hill (torn ACL) to miss season
Florida cornerback Jaydon Hill will miss the 2021 season due to a torn ACL in his left knee, Gators coach Dan Mullen said Thursday.
Mullen said Hill was injured during a noncontact situation.
“It’s really a tragedy with the amount of work that these guys put in,” Mullen told reporters.
Hill, a junior, was slated to start opposite star corner Kaiir Elam.
Hill started five of 12 games played in 2020 and posted 14 tackles and broke up seven passes. In 2019, he had 11 tackles in 10 games as a reserve.
This isn’t Hill’s first experience with a major knee injury. He tore the right ACL in 2018 in his senior season of high school in Alabama.
“You’re looking at a young guy that’s been through this once and came out on the positive end on the other side,” Mullen said. “I think he understands how to come through it, what he needs to do, and how he can get through it and how it’ll improve.”
The Gators open the season on Sept. 4 against visiting Florida Atlantic.
