Florida QB Emory Jones to transfer after Gasparilla Bowl
Quarterback Emory Jones will enter the transfer portal after playing for Florida in the Dec. 23 Gasparilla Bowl, he told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday.
Jones later confirmed to ESPN his intention to transfer.
Jones, who will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next destination, played in all 12 regular-season games for the Gators this season, starting all but the Oct. 30 contest against Georgia.
Freshman QB Anthony Richardson started against the Bulldogs and appeared in six other games this year, but he reportedly will miss the bowl game against UCF in Tampa following knee surgery.
Jones completed 67.7 percent of his passes in the regular season for 2,563 yards and 19 touchdowns with 13 interceptions. Jones amassed 696 yards and four touchdowns on 133 carries.
On Nov. 13 against Samford, Jones threw for 464 yards and six touchdowns. His best outing against an FBS opponent came on Oct. 9, when he racked up 273 yards, four touchdowns and one interception vs. Vanderbilt.
Jones was intercepted three times in the regular-season finale against Florida State, but the Gators still emerged with a 24-21 win to level their record at 6-6 and gain bowl eligibility.
