LSU lands commitment from five-star S Ryan

Five-star safety Sage Ryan said Saturday he’ll play his college football for home-state LSU.

Ryan, ranked No. 1 in the nation at his position by the 247Sports composite, selected the Tigers over Alabama. He made the announcement in the gym of his high school, Lafayette Christian Academy.

He is ranked as the nation’s 28th-best overall prospect in the Class of 2021.

The 5-foot-11 Ryan also is a standout on offense for his high school. In a 42-21 victory on Friday night, Ryan ran for 173 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries and added 25 yards on two receptions.

He is the first five-star recruit in the Tigers’ 2021 class, which now has 20 members. According to 247Sports, LSU has the nation’s No. 4 recruiting class and is second in the Southeastern Conference, trailing Alabama. The Crimson Tide have five recruits with five stars.
