College football opening lines Week 6

The Miami vs Clemson betting situation is the biggest one of Week 6, but there is plenty of intrigue in this week’s college football opening lines.

It includes a Top 10 matchup between the No. 7 Miami Hurricanes and the No. 1 Clemson Tigers, but also features three other three ranked matchups. They include No. 4 Florida Gators at the No. 21 Texas A&M Aggies, the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers at No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs, and the No. 19 Virginia Tech Hokies at the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels.

At home against the Hurricanes, the Tigers opened as a 14.5-point favorite. Clemson has won 23 straight at home with a 12-10-1 record against the spread. Miami is only 3-5 ATS in their last eight road games.

The Gators opened as a 6-point road favorite against the Aggies. Florida has won eight straight as a road favorite while going 6-2 ATS.

The Bulldogs are 14.5-point favorites at home to the Volunteers. Georgia may be favored, but they’re a disappointing 3-5 ATS in their last eight versus Tennessee.

The Tar Heels opened as 5.5-point favorites against the Hokies. North Carolina may be favored, but they’re a lousy 1-6 SU and ATS in their last seven against Virginia Tech.

The largest spread on the early odds is found in the Texas San Antonio Road Runners at the BYU Cougars matchup. The Cougars opened as 33.5-point favorites. When favored by 33 points or more the Cougars are 10-0 SU, but only 3-6-1 ATS.

There’s also a 30-plus spread in the Citadel Bulldogs at the Army Black Knights. The Black Knights are a 31.5-point favorite. When favored by more than 30 points Army is 8-0 SU and 3-5 ATS.

The Red River Rivalry will be renewed this week with both the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners coming off upset losses. The Sooners opened as a slim 3.5-point favorite. In the last eight matchups between the Sooners and the Longhorns, Texas is 7-1 ATS.

When the opening odds were set this weekend there were nine road teams listed as favorites. The largest road favorite on the board this week are the Alabama Crimson Tide who are 24-point favorites at the Mississippi Rebels. Alabama is only 2-4 ATS in their last six against Mississippi.

Other notable road favorites on the early odds this week include, the Louisville Cardinals at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (+6.5), the South Carolina Gamecocks at the Vanderbilt Commodores (+11) and the  Pittsburgh Panthers at the Boston College Eagles (+3.5).
