Michigan WR Collins no longer with the team

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed Monday that star receiver Nico Collins is no longer with the team.

“Nico is not participating in football right now,” Harbaugh said, per ESPN. “I don’t have a crystal ball as to if his mind would change on that. I know he’s not currently on the team.”

Collins originally announced in January that he would return for his senior season instead of entering the 2020 NFL Draft.

After the COVID-19 pandemic caused the Big Ten to push pause on the season in mid-August, he signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus in September. Shortly after that, the conference announced plans to begin the season Oct. 24.

The No. 18 Wolverines kick off the campaign Saturday at No. 21 Minnesota.

The 6-foot-4 Collins caught 37 passes for 729 yards and seven touchdowns last season. His career totals include 78 receptions for 1,388 yards and 13 scores in three seasons.
