Multiple UAB players test positive before Miami game
Multiple UAB players did not make the bus trip to Miami for Thursday night’s game against the Hurricanes after testing positive for COVID-19, Blazers coach Bill Clark said Wednesday.
“We got a couple of guys that won’t be going with us this time, but other than that we did great,” Clark told WBRC FOX6 in Birmingham, Ala. “We have still done really well.”
Clark did not identify the total number or the names of the players but did say none of his starters had tested positive.
“We’re testing now three times a week ourself and then we are testing when we get there for the ACC,” Clark said. “Like I said before, we’re testing more probably than anybody in the country right now, but you know extra safe, extra cautious. We’ll have masks on when on the bus and on the plan. So we’re doing everything we can.”
UAB (1-0) opened the season with a 45-35 victory against Central Arkansas last Thursday. This is the first game of the season for Miami.
