No. 14 Oregon vs. Stanford highlight of Pac-12’s Week 1

No. 14 Oregon will host Stanford on Nov. 7, highlighting the first week of play in the Pac-12’s 2020 season.

The conference unveiled the schedule on Saturday. It consists of an abbreviated six-game regular season and a championship game in Week 7. The conference title game is scheduled to be played Dec. 18, but all 12 teams are slated to be in action that weekend in a seventh game against teams in the opposite division.

The Ducks are the only ranked conference team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

“Our guys are ready to roll; we’ve been at it,” Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said Saturday morning on ESPN’S “College GameDay” show. “We’ve been watching everybody else play ball. Now it’s our turn.”

Other highlights on the schedule include a trio of rivalry games on Nov. 27 — the battle for the Apple Cup (Washington at Washington State), Oregon at Oregon State and the Big Game, featuring Stanford at Cal — and the annual UCLA-Southern Cal rivalry game on Dec. 12 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

The Pac-12 announced on Aug. 11 that it was postponing all sports until Jan. 1 at the earliest, but an agreement for rapid daily testing for COVID-19 with a national lab gave conference leaders the confidence the schools could play a fall football season.
