Odds to Win Big 12 Title

Sooners favored to win Big 12

The Big 12 is planning a unique, nine-game in-conference season starting September 26 but odd to win the Big 12 title aren’t much different from seasons past.

The Oklahoma Sooners have dominated the Big 12 for years. Judging by the latest Big 12 futures odds at SugarHouse, that’s likely to continue this season.

On the latest Big 12 futures, the Sooners are big favorites to win the conference at -125. Oklahoma has won the last five Big 12 titles and went 8-1 in their conference games a season ago. The Sooner boasted the No. 2 offense in the nation last season and should continue to put up big numbers behind quarterback Spencer Rattler.

Following the Sooners are rival Texas Longhorns at +175 and the Oklahoma State Cowboys at +650.

Can the Cowboys make a run?

The Longhorns are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season after posting an 8-5 record a year ago. That included a lackluster 5-4 record within the conference. That led a to a few changes in Texas, where Mike Yurcich takes over as offensive coordinator and Chris Ash takes over as defensive coordinator.

Returning is quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who’ll likely have a new No. 1 target in Brennan Eagles following Devin Duvernay’s departure to the NFL.

The Cowboys were also 8-5 last season, but could be the best sleeper pick in the conference with 19 starters returning. That includes Heisman contender running back Chuba Hubbard, who makes up one of the nations’ top RB and wide receiver combo with Tyan Wallace. The make or break for Oklahoma State could be their defense, which does have the chance to show improvement with 11 starters returning.

Who are the Big 12 dark horses for bettors?

After the Top 3 on the futures the odds starts rising with the Iowa State Cyclones at +1000, the TCU Horned Frogs at +1600 and the West Virginia Mountaineers at +2500.

Iowa State may arguably have the top quarterback in the conference in Brock Purdy. He’ll have several potent weapons to use this season, flanked by running back Breece Hall and wideout Tarique Milton, and don’t sleep on tight end Charlie Kolar. Iowa State also boasts one of the top defenses in the conference and could surprise this season.

TCU is coming off one of its worst seasons in decade after going 5-7 with a 3-6 conference record. Despite having a lot of spots to fill with only seven starters returning there is reason for some optimism for the Horned Frogs. Quarterback Max Duggan was solid in his freshman year and should continue to improve.

West Virginia is coming off a 5-7 season with a 3-6 record in the conference. Defense will likely be their strength again, as their offense sputtered at times last season, behind an almost non-existent ground game.

The rest of the odds list in Big 12 includes the Baylor Bears at +3300, the Kansas State Wildcats at +4000, the Texas Tech Red Raiders at +6600 and the Kansas Jayhawks at +10,000.
