Oregon starting QB Tyler Shough to transfer
Oregon starting quarterback Tyler Shough announced Friday that he’s entering the transfer portal.
“I would like to thank my coaches at Oregon for the opportunity and many lessons learned these past three years,” Shough posted to Twitter. “Huge thank you to the fans and Eugene community for welcoming me here and making this place special. … Thank you to my teammates and brothers for making this place a home. I will forever cherish the bonds we have built together. Once a Duck, always a Duck.”
Shough entered Oregon as the seventh-ranked pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018. As a redshirt sophomore, he took over for Justin Herbert in 2020 and started seven games. The Ducks were 4-3.
Shough completed 63.5 percent (106 of 167) of his passes for 1,559 yards, connecting for 13 touchdowns and throwing six interceptions. He ran 66 times for 271 yards and two scores, and he was the Pac-12 leader in passer efficiency at 160.38.
He struggled to end the season, including in the Fiesta Bowl, when he was benched in favor of Anthony Brown for part of the game and finished with just 79 yards passing and an interception.
Shough already earned two degrees at Oregon and will have three years of eligibility remaining as a grad transfer.
