Pitt standout S Ford opts out of rest of season
Pittsburgh standout safety Paris Ford has opted out of the rest of the season, Panthers coach Pat Narduzzi said Monday.
Ford, a first-team All-ACC player last year and All-American candidate this year, led the Panthers with 45 tackles and three interceptions this season.
“Paris is a tremendous football player and a tremendous person,” Narduzzi said. “He’s a guy that we have a lot of respect for. We appreciate all of the efforts he’s put in here in his three-and-a-half, four years, and really for the six years that we’ve known him through the whole recruiting process.
“These are decisions him and his family have to make. They’re business decisions. They’re family decisions. And it’s one that we respect. It’s just stuff he’s got to do.”
Ford is a fourth-year junior who explored entering the NFL Draft after last season. He’s considered a top prospect for the 2021 draft.
Pitt is 3-4 and in the midst of a four-game losing streak. The Panthers play at Florida State on Saturday.
