Report: Michigan QB McCaffrey looking to transfer

Michigan quarterback Dylan McCaffrey reportedly will not be around when the Big Ten kicks off the delayed 2020 season next month.

The 6-foot-5 McCaffrey is opting out of the Wolverines’ upcoming campaign and is looking to transfer, the Detroit News reported Wednesday.

McCaffrey is the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey and the brother of Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. Younger brother Luke McCaffrey is a redshirt freshman quarterback at Nebraska.

He was competing with redshirt sophomore Joe Milton and redshirt freshman Cade McNamara to replace the departed Shea Patterson.

According to the Detroit News, McCaffrey will graduate from Michigan in December and has two years of eligibility remaining.

He appeared in six games in 2018 and seven games in 2019. He has completed 18 of 35 passes for 242 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions and has rushed 23 times for 166 yards and two scores.

The Big Ten announced Wednesday it was moving forward with a nine-game, conference-only season, starting the weekend of Oct. 23-24.
