Saban: WR Jaylen Waddle has chance to play in title game
Alabama coach Nick Saban said Tuesday that injured star wideout Jaylen Waddle has been cleared to practice and has a chance to play in the College Football Playoff title game against Ohio State.
“He’s been running, but we need to see him in practice,” Saban told ESPN. “Our medical people will evaluate him as the week goes on and make a decision from there. He wants to play and has been working hard to get back.”
Waddle fractured his ankle on Oct. 24 on the opening kickoff against Tennessee and has not played since.
DeVonta Smith led the Crimson Tide with 105 catches for 1,641 yards and 20 touchdowns on the season.
Waddle, a junior who is considered to be a likely first-round pick in next year’s NFL draft, had 25 catches for 557 yards and four touchdowns in the first four games of the season.
