Shilo Sanders to play for Deion at Jackson State
Defensive back Shilo Sanders will play for his father at Jackson State.
The younger Sanders, a transfer from South Carolina, said on Twitter that he will join Deion Sanders, who was hired to take over the program in September. Another Sanders offspring, class of 2021 quarterback Shedeur Sanders, also is committed to play for his father.
“Pops said he needed some dawgs! So I’m joining my brother to help change the game at JSU and level the HBCU playing field,” Shilo Sanders posted Tuesday night.
Shilo Sanders entered the NCAA transfer portal over the weekend.
The redshirt freshman played in nine games this season for South Carolina. He had 32 tackles, tied for seventh most on the team. He was available for four games during the 2019 season before redshirting.
He previously played for his father in high school at Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, where he was ranked as the No. 665 overall prospect and No. 62 cornerback in the country for the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He picked South Carolina over Colorado State, and also held offers from schools such as Florida State and Georgia.
