Clemson better stay on its toes as they host over-matched Syracuse because the Orange have tripped up teams in years past when dealing with monster point spreads.
The year was 2007 and Syracuse was staring at the biggest point spread in school history – 37.5 at powerhouse Louisville, a team riding a 20-game win streak. But the Orange scored on the game’s first play and upset the Cardinals 38-35 behind QB Andrew Robinson.
On Saturday, they Orange lay 46.5 points (per BetRivers) while facing another powerhouse – the No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers. So bettor beware, even if you don’t buy the straight-up upset. Clemson needs to win by more than six TDs to cover this spread.
