Syracuse QB DeVito suffers leg injury in loss to Duke
Syracuse junior quarterback Tommy DeVito suffered a potentially serious lower-left leg injury during Saturday’s 38-24 home loss to Duke.
DeVito was injured after being sacked early in the fourth quarter of the Atlantic Coast Conference matchup. He immediately reached for the back of his leg and was helped off the field. He later returned to the sideline with crutches and sporting a boot.
Syracuse coach Dino Babers declined to shed light on the nature of the injury after the contest.
“Based off some of the stuff I’ve heard, it’s not good,” Babers told reporters. “We’re all pulling for him and wishing him the best, but like I said it’s not good.”
DeVito was enjoying his best game of the season prior to the injury as he completed 13 of 26 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Overall, DeVito has thrown for 593 yards and four touchdowns while being intercepted twice in 2020.
Senior Rex Culpepper is the backup quarterback for Syracuse (1-3, 1-3 ACC), which plays a nonconference home game against Liberty next Saturday.
