Texas decommit Bowman says he’ll be a Sooner
Highly touted football recruit Billy Bowman broke hearts in Texas a few weeks ago when he announced he was changing his commitment from the Longhorns, and Sunday declared he was officially casting his future with the Oklahoma Sooners.
Bowman, a 5-10, 175-pound elusive back out of Denton Ryan, announced on Twitter that “I’ve found the best fit for me, to help me get to the next level. After lots of prayer, I am committing to … the University of Oklahoma! Boomer Sooner!”
According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, Bowman is the No. 33 overall recruit in the 2021 class. He is just the latest in a succession of high-profile recruits to line up to play for Oklahoma, most notably the top-rated quarterback in the recruiting class, Caleb Williams.
Not only did Tom Herman and the Longhorns get the bad news that he was opting out of his original plan, but now they’ll have to face Bowman as part of an OU recruiting class that has become the best in the Big 12, and among the top dozen in the country. Moreover, Texas also recently lost prep quarterback Quinn Ewers, the consensus top-ranked quarterback prospect in the Class of 2022.
