UCLA T Burton enters transfer portal, seeks to play in fall

UCLA starting right tackle Jake Burton said Tuesday he is entering the transfer portal in hopes of playing football this fall.

The Pac-12 postponed the fall season earlier this month due to the coronavirus pandemic and that led to Burton’s decision to seek another school.

“I was looking forward to finishing my career with my Bruin teammates,” Burton wrote on his Twitter account. “Due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, that is not possible this year. After much thought, I have decided to enter the portal in hopes of gaining the opportunity to play football this fall.”

The fifth-year senior will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer. The 6-foot-6, 312-pound Burton started 23 of UCLA’s 24 games over the past two seasons.
