Virginia Tech OT Darrisaw declares for NFL draft
Highly regarded Virginia Tech offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw declared for the NFL draft on Friday.
Darrisaw started 34 games over the past three seasons for the Hokies. He started 10 games this season and missed one due to injury.
The Athletic rates Darrisaw as the third-best tackle of the 2021 draft class behind Oregon’s Penei Sewell and Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater.
“The past 3 years have been the ride of a lifetime,” Darrisaw said in his announcement on Twitter. “I was honored to have the opportunity to compete in the ACC and represent Virginia Tech; I will cherish these times forever.
“Since I was young, it has been my dream to play in the NFL. With careful consideration, prayer and family support, I have made the decision to forgo my senior season and declare for the 2021 NFL Draft.”
Darrisaw won the starting job in 2018 as a true freshman and never relinquished the post. He was on the Outland Trophy watch list this season but wasn’t named as one of the six finalists.
