Virginia-Virginia Tech game rescheduled for Dec. 12

The matchup between Virginia and Virginia Tech has been rescheduled for Dec. 12, the ACC announced Thursday.

The two in-state rivals were slated to meet Saturday but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues experienced by Virginia Tech.

The Dec. 12 game at the Hokies’ Lane Stadium in Blacksburg will mark the latest in the season the two schools have faced one another. The schools didn’t have an earlier compatible opening.

Both teams are now slated to open their seasons on Sept. 26. Virginia Tech is scheduled to host North Carolina State while Virginia will host Duke.

The ACC is using a flexible approach to its conference championship game, saying it can be played either Dec. 12 or 19 depending on scheduling developments due to the coronavirus pandemic.
