Chargers' Joey Bosa out for opener with left foot injury

COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa has been ruled out for the opener against Kansas City after reinjuring his left foot.

Coach Anthony Lynn said Friday that Bosa's first foot injury, which happened during training camp and caused him to miss the preseason, had healed but that he suffered a new injury during Wednesday's practice.

Bosa has not practiced the past two days, and has a walking boot on his left foot. This will be the first game the third-year player has missed due to injury.

Lynn said tight end Antonio Gates, who re-signed with the team Monday, has looked good during practices this week and will be active for Sunday's game.
