Blaine Gabbert may have taken a big step toward retaining the Jacksonville Jaguars' starting quarterback job with his performance Saturday night against the New York Jets, per the Florida Times-Union.
Gabbert exited with a sprained thumb, which doesn't appear to be major, but before he was injured, he was 13 of 16 for 165 yards and a touchdown.
Chad Henne, Gabbert's chief competition for the job, was just 4 of 10 for 30 yards and had one pass intercepted.
As for Gabbert's thumb injury, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said, "“We’ll take a look at it, but I think he’ll be OK,”
