Free-agent running back Garrett Wolfe no longer faces a felony charge stemming from his arrest at a Miami Beach, Fla., nightclub last month.
Wolfe, the star from Northern Illinois who spent the last four seasons with the Chicago Bears, now faces one misdemeanor count of resisting an officer without violence. The state’s attorney took no action against Wolfe on charges of grand theft, a felony charge of resisting an offer with violence and disorderly conduct, according to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.
Wolfe’s attorney Christopher Lyons called it a “major victory” for his client and said he hopes to have the entire matter resolved in the next month or two. Wolfe was accused of trying to leave Cameo without paying a bar tab of nearly $1,600.
While Wolfe’s offensive opportunities have been scarce with the Bears, he has been a solid special teams performer.
