The University of Houston will wrap up its 2011 spring practice schedule when it holds the annual Red-White Spring Game on Saturday at Robertson Stadium. Kevin Sumlin's Cougars are coming off a 5-7 season in 2010, but their struggles were due in large part to quarterback Case Keenum's season-ending injury. Keenum will be back in 2011 after receiving a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, but Cotton Turner and David Piland will get the majority of reps in the final scrimmage as Keenum continues to recover from his serious knee injury.
Houston returns 16 starters from last season, including Keenum and two first-team All-Conference USA performers — running back Bryce Beall and receiver Patrick Edwards. The team will enter its second season under defensive coordinator Brian Stewart.
Get an inside look at a recent Cougars spring practice as co-offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, a former quarterback at Texas Tech, works with his unit.
