The New York Giants have made sure they know how to stay in touch with C.J. Spiller.

That has prompted speculation that the Giants could call the name of the Clemson running back when their turn comes tonight with the 15th pick of the first round. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reported that the Giants, who had no prior contact with Spiller, called earlier this week to make certain they had the right cell phone number for him.

Many believe the Giants will seek to bolster their defense with a lineman or linebacker, but there is also a school of thought that they will hold out hope that Spiller falls to them, or even consider a trade up to grab him.

New York’s running game was stuck in neutral much of last season, and Spiller would provide a dynamic option, especially if he could be paired with a rejuvenated Brandon Jacobs. Of course, a lot of teams have made certain they have a means to reach Spiller. Stay tuned.
