Carolina Panthers star defensive end Greg Hardy's domestic violence case was dismissed when his accuser, Nicole Holder, didn't cooperate with prosecutors.
It's been reported that Hardy reached a financial settlement with the alleged victim.
Hardy appealed his conviction.
He made no comment to reporters while leaving the courthouse.
Hardy was found guilty last year of assaulting and threatening his former girlfriend.
This sets aside the guilty verdict.
Hardy was the Panthers' franchise player.
He earned $13.1 million despite playing in only one game.
Hardy was placed on the commissioner's exempt list once the legal verdict was entered.
It's unclear how the Panthers and the NFL will proceed with Hardy now that the case is no longer active.
"His status remains unchanged until we fully review the matter," an NFL spokesman said.
