The New York Jets have hired Brian Heimerdinger as director of player personnel.
Heimerdinger is 28 years old.
He was a scouting intern for Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan when he worked for the Houston Texans.
Heimerdinger spent the past three seasons with the St. Louis Rams as a personnel analyst, evaluating pro and college players. He was the Rams' college scout for the Southwest. He played wide receiver for Colorado State and Northern Colorado.
