Dorian Brooks, a guard from James Madison, gained some late momentum heading toward the draft and could be a late-round selection come Saturday based on the interest in him in the last two weeks.
Brooks, who was invited to the scouting combine, started the final 38 games in his career at James Madison and has had private workouts for the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins. He’s drawn interest from many teams that use zone blocking schemes because they view him as an athletic performer with good feet. Some teams have also projected him as a possible center or an interior swing man.
Brooks, 6-2, 306 pounds, put up 26 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds at the combine and there was a crowd of 18 teams at his pro day in Harrisonburg, Va. He’s a developmental player who needs to increase his lower body strength but there are not a lot of guards in this draft and he could get a shot.
