The Detroit Lions were without their top safety Louis Delmas in Sunday’s comeback victory at Oakland as he stayed behind after undergoing knee surgery.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Delmas underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee on Saturday.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz called Delmas “day-to-day” with the injury, and the hope certainly has to be that he will be available for the wild-card round of the playoffs, assuming the Lions make it.

Delmas suffered a Grade 2 tear of the MCL in the Thanksgiving Day loss to the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field. Chris Harris, claimed off waivers from the Chicago Bears in early November, started in place of Delmas for the third consecutive week. He didn’t last long, though, as a concussion sent him to the locker room. Harris was injured in a head-to-head collision with Raiders running back Michael Bush.

Harris’ status this week remains unknown.
