Construction crews installing the new roof in the Metrodome are working 10 hours a day and six days a week as they hustle to have the project completed in time for the NFL season.
The project is currently targeted to be completed two weeks prior to the first home game for the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 27. A 50-person crew is handling the job, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The new roof is scheduled to be inflated in the final week of July and the project would be finished Aug. 12. It will take the city several days to inspect the roof when it’s completed and then the playing surface – a Sportexe field – will have to be prepared. It’s covered by three layers of plywood right now.
