Despite a push from the Chicago Bears, free agent defensive end Jeremy Mincey decided to re-sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

According to Tania Gangulia of the Florida Times Union, it’s a four-year deal. Financial particulars weren’t immediately made available.

Mincey started just eight games for the Jaguars during his first three seasons with the team, but came on strong in 2011 with 16 starts that resulted in 8.0 sacks and 57 tackles.

Jacksonville ranked just 25th in the league in sacks last season (31), so acquiring—or re-signing, in this instance—capable pass rushers was one of the team’s top priorities.

Whether or not the Jags are in the hunt for the services of free agent defensive end Mario Williams remains to be seen, but at least the team can rest a bit easier knowing they’ve already made at least one move to address a big concern.
