“I want to thank the Spanos family, Tom Telesco and all my coaches for helping to make this extension possible,” Liuget said. “This is a dream come true. The Chargers are the only team I’ve ever wanted to play for since they drafted me and my number-one goal now as it has always been is just to continue to prepare and play at a high level to show them how much I appreciate their confidence in me.”
Liuget has recorded 202 career tackles and 18 sacks, 49 tackles for losses and four forced fumbles since being drafted 18th overall in 2011.
“Corey is hard-work personified,” Chargers coach Mike McCoy said. “He will do whatever it takes to get better and help the team. And he’s still improving. There’s no limit to how good he can be. He has a lot of great football ahead.”
