Tannehill inactive, Osweiler will start for Dolphins
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is inactive for the Miami Dolphins' game against the Chicago Bears because of an injury to his throwing shoulder, and Brock Osweiler will make his first start for the team.
Tannehill was limited in Friday's workout — the first time he has missed practice time because of the injury. It began bothering him last month, and he was first on an injury report the week of Sept. 24.
Osweiler signed with Miami as a free agent in March and has thrown five passes this year. He made 25 career starts for Denver and Houston.
The Panthers have a key offensive player back while the Redskins are without two important players as Carolina visits Washington.
Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is active after missing three games with a broken foot. Redskins running back Chris Thompson (rib/knee) and wide receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle) are inactive, though receiver Josh Doctson is good to go with a sore heel.
Rookie kicker Michael Badgley will make his NFL debut for the Chargers, replacing Sturgis, who has been sidelined with a quad injury. The Chargers have had a revolving door at the kicker position under coach Anthony Lynn. Badgley will be the sixth kicker used in Lynn's 22 games with L.A. The Chargers lead the NFL with four missed extra points this season, and Sturgis has also missed three long field goals
Also, the Chargers will be without starting right tackle Joe Barksdale because of a knee injury.
Browns wide receiver Beshard Perriman is inactive after being signed Saturday. Cleveland is thin at wide receiver following injuries to Rashard Higgins and rookie Derrick Willies.
Seahawks tight end Nick Vannett will not play against the Oakland Raiders at Wembley Stadium because of a back injury.
Coach Pete Carroll said on Friday that Vannett would play in the game despite missing practice that day. The Seahawks signed TE Tyrone Swoopes, the former University of Texas quarterback, off their practice squad on Saturday as insurance.
Defensive end Dion Jordan (knee) will sit out for the second time in three games, and outside linebacker K.J. Wright (knee) has yet to make his season debut.
Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is out for the third time in the past four games because of a hamstring injury. He was listed as questionable. Latavius Murray will again start in his place. With Andrew Sendejo out with a groin injury, George Iloka will make his first start with the Vikings, having joined the team in training camp after getting cut by the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are without cornerback Carlton Davis for the game in Atlanta. He's missing his first game of the season with groin and back injuries.
But defensive tackle Beau Allen (foot) is back on the field after missing the past two games. Safety Jordan Whitehead, who missed the Week 4 loss to Chicago with a shoulder ailment, also returned.
The Bucs placed cornerback Marcus Williams (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday and re-signed receiver Freddie Martino, who was active against the Falcons.
The Falcons were without running back Devonta Freeman (foot) and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (ankle), who had previously been ruled out with injuries. Freeman has played in only two games this season, having earlier been sidelined by a knee problem, while Jarrett missed his second straight game.
