Bears place rookie OL Simmons on reserve/Covid-19 list

Days after being promoted to the active roster, Chicago Bears rookie offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons has been added to the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list.

Simmons traveled with the team to Nashville, Tenn., for Sunday night’s game against the Titans.

Simmons, 24, tested positive on Saturday and the result was confirmed on Sunday morning, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The team promoted practice squad player Aaron Neary to fill his spot on the active roster.

Simmons was promoted from the practice squad this week and hasn’t played for the Bears this season.

The move comes on the heels of Bears safety Deon Bush being added the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list one day earlier. Center Cody Whitehair, tackle Jason Spriggs and defensive back Michael Joseph are also on the reserve/COVID-19 list for the Bears.

ESPN reported Saturday that Bush, who has appeared in six of the eight Bears’ games this season, all as a reserve, has not tested positive for the virus. However, he had close contact with someone who is being kept away from the team and facility.

Bush is under quarantine away from the team in Nashville, ESPN reported.
