Bears pull Trubisky, insert Foles at QB

The Chicago Bears pulled Mitchell Trubisky and replaced him with Nick Foles at quarterback in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Trubisky beat out Foles for the starting job during the preseason, but he was yanked with the Bears trailing 26-10. He threw for 128 yards, one touchdown and one interception with a 71.8 passer rating in two-plus quarters.

Foles immediately led the Bears down the field and into scoring position, but the drive ended when he threw a red-zone interception. The play initially was ruled as a touchdown for wideout Allen Robinson, but the call was reversed after a video review showed that Falcons cornerback Darqueze Dennard ripped the ball out of Robinson’s hands and into his own before the play was complete.

The 31-year-old Foles entered the weekend with 58 career games (48 starts) with the Philadelphia Eagles, then-St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars.
