Bengals QB Burrow has “successful” knee surgery

Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow underwent successful knee surgery, with a return at some point next season still expected.

Burrow was injured Nov. 22 when he was hit in a game against the Washington Football Team. The No. 1 overall draft pick had led the Bengals to a 2-6-1 record at that point.

“Joe Burrow underwent successful surgery (Wednesday),” The Bengals said in a statement posted to Twitter on Thursday. “The procedure went as planned and he is expected to make a complete recovery. Joe will begin the recovery process and we look forward to his return.”

Burrow had both a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee.

The 23-year old passed for 2,688 yards in his debut season with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also had 142 rushing yards and three TDs on the ground.

Burrow won the 2019 Heisman Trophy as LSU’s quarterback and also guided the Tigers to a national championship.
