Browns DE Garrett to have MRI on knee

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett will undergo an MRI after sustaining a knee injury during Sunday’s 16-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Garrett was limited all week in practice with an ankle injury, but was able to start Saturday before injuring his knee early in the game and seeing his snaps reduced.

“It was unrelated to the ankle from this week,” Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski said. “He was able to play, probably didn’t play as much as he would have liked, we would have liked. … We’ll let the medical staff guide us on that one.”

The Browns (5-3) enter their bye week before returning to action against the visiting Houston Texans on Nov. 15.

Garrett, 24, signed a five-year, $125-million extension in the summer, and entered Sunday’s action with an NFL-leading nine sacks in seven games. He was held without one for the first time since Cleveland’s 38-6 season-opening loss to Baltimore on Sept. 13.

Since being selected by the Browns with the top overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, Garrett has recorded 39.5 sacks.
