Browns designate RB Chubb to return from IR
The Cleveland Browns designated running back Nick Chubb for return from injured reserve on Monday, moving the team a step closer to adding a key offensive weapon.
Chubb, 24, suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee on Oct. 4 in the Browns’ 49-38 win over the Dallas Cowboys and went on IR the following day.
In the first four games of the season, Chubb rushed 57 times for 335 yards and four touchdowns. Kareem Hunt has filled in with 529 rushing yards through eight games.
Despite missing four games, Chubb leads the NFL with six runs of 20-plus yards.
The Browns (5-3) host the Houston Texans (2-6) on Sunday, and it’s possible Chubb could play. Quarterback Baker Mayfield, who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list because of a close contact, is expected to lead the Browns against the Texans.
