Browns to place CB Williams on IR
The Cleveland Browns placed Greedy Williams on injured reserve, meaning the second-year cornerback will miss at least half the season.
Williams missed the first five games for the Browns (4-1) with a shoulder injury. By going on IR, he will miss at least three more games. Williams would be eligible to return on Nov. 15 when the Browns host the Houston Texans.
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Williams is suffering from a nerve injury in the shoulder but will not require surgery.
Cleveland selected Williams, an LSU product, in the second round (No. 46 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 12 games as a rookie and posted 47 tackles and two passes defensed.
The Browns travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday for a key AFC North matchup with the Steelers (4-0).
