Bucs host Olympic party to celebrate Anna Cockrell, sister of CB

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Ross Cockrell enjoyed film session on Monday.

Why? Well, he joined the rest of his team in watching his sister, Anna, compete in the semifinals of the women’s 400-meter hurdles in the Tokyo Olympics. She finished in second place to punch her ticket to the final.

“My heart was pounding through my chest, I was sweating just watching her run,” Ross Cockrell said.

“It was awesome, man,” Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said, “us holding our breath and it was such a close race and she finished so strong and got in there. I mean, the whole room exploded.”

Anna Cockrell took to social media to convey her excitement after the Buccaneers tweeted that they were watching her.

“Y’ALL GOT ME CRYING IN THE VILLAGE DINING HALL,” she tweeted.

Cockrell followed up his sister’s impressive performance with one of his own on Monday. He had three interceptions in the practice session.

“I was just feeding off her magic,” Ross Cockrell said. “She gave me the magic and I was able to continue on. It’s just a great feeling and a great moment for our family.”
