Bucs place WRs Mickens, Grayson on COVID-19 list

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed wide receivers Jaydon Mickens and Cyril Grayson on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday.

Mickens, the team’s primary punt and kickoff returner, will not travel with the Bucs (6-3) to Charlotte, N.C., for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers (3-6). Grayson is part of the practice squad.

The reserve/COVID-19 list is for players who either test positive for the coronavirus or have come in close contact with an infected person.

Mickens, 26, has seven catches for 58 yards in nine games this season. He has returned 15 punts for 99 yards and 12 kickoffs for 289 yards, giving him a total of 446 all-purpose yards.

Grayson, also 26, has appeared in three games this season, playing 42 snaps on offense and 20 on special teams. He has one kickoff return for 20 yards and no catches on three targets.

Replacement options in the return game include wide receiver Scotty Miller, cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. Receiver Antonio Brown also could see action on special teams.

Tampa Bay also said left guard Ali Marpet (concussion) will miss his second straight game.
